Volleyball Recap: Kelly Catholic Comes Up Short

Kelly Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kirbyville Wildcats. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.

Ryleigh Simon paced Kelly Catholic's offense, picking up eight kills. Simon got some help from Charley Jones and her 15 assists. Finally, Abigail Brown kept Kelly Catholic's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Kelly Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Kirbyville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Kelly Catholic and Kirbyville will both be playing West Orange-Stark the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
