Montgomery Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 26-19 win over the Dadeville Tigers on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won seven games in a row.

Montgomery Academy found their leader in freshman Reid Mcbride, who threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Mcbride has posted since back in September.

Dadeville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Davis McKelvey, who rushed for 102 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 165 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. McKelvey also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making 13 total tackles and defending three passes. Corde Jefferson was another key back, gaining 144 total yards and a touchdown.

Montgomery Academy's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points per game. As for Dadeville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Montgomery Academy will square off against Southside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Montgomery Academy likes a good challenge.
