Volleyball Game Preview: Rocklin Thunder vs. Rio Americano Raiders

After both having extra time off, the Rocklin Thunder and the Rio Americano Raiders will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Rocklin came up short against Whitney and fell 3-1. While the Thunder didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 25-19 in the first set.

Rocklin started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Rio Americano had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over El Camino on Thursday.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 26-24, 29-27, 25-18.

Rocklin better focus on containing Adam Wixom and Finn Gardner as the pair were huge in Rio Americano's win. Wixom had 16 assists and four digs, while Gardner had 12 assists and four digs. Wixom is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 13 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Rio Americano's victory bumped their record up to 14-17. As for Rocklin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.
