Recap: Gateway Eagles vs. Dunbar Tigers

Even though the Dunbar Tigers scored an imposing 63 points on Thursday, the Gateway Eagles still came out on top. Gateway strolled past Dunbar with points to spare, taking the game 80-63. Given Gateway's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Dunbar is ranked 746th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Tavian Cook, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.

Gateway's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Dunbar, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway will be home for the holidays to greet LaBelle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Alan King jr and Davis. Dunbar will be home for the holidays to greet Island Coast at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Island Coast is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
