Preview: Pacelli Cardinals vs. Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds
The Pacelli Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacelli is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Pacelli has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Rosholt, posting a 75-20 win at home. Given Pacelli's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Rosholt is ranked 430th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jaydon Awe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Awe has scored at least 25% of Pacelli's points. Camden Schurk was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Iola-Scandinavia scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Menominee Indian with a sharp 69-49 victory.
Pacelli's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Iola-Scandinavia, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Pacelli strolled past Iola-Scandinavia in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 68-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pacelli since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
