Baseball Game Preview: West Seattle vs. Ballard Beavers

West Seattle will head out to square off against the Ballard Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. West Seattle will be strutting in after a victory while Ballard will be coming in after a defeat.

West Seattle took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Nathan Hale. The victory continues a trend for West Seattle in their matchups with Nathan Hale: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Ballard unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Lakeside by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Beavers have suffered against the Lions since May 10, 2021.

Aiden DePaula put in work no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

DePaula wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Danny DiMarco, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

West Seattle pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Ballard, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

West Seattle took their win against Ballard when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will West Seattle repeat their success, or does Ballard has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
