Softball Recap: Houghton Comes Up Short

Houghton was the 17-11 winner over Negaunee when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Gremlins lost 11-1 to the Miners on Monday.

Romi Mattson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Houghton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Negaunee, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Houghton will be playing at home against Ishpeming at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Negaunee, they will take on Munising at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
