Gordon-Rushville won the last time they faced Kimball and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mustangs skirted past the Longhorns 2-1.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Gordon-Rushville who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 20-25, 25-13.

Reese Simonson paced Gordon-Rushville's offense, picking up seven kills. Simonson got some help from Mikaylee Campbell and her 17 assists. Campbell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

When it comes to explaining why Kimball lost, don't look at Hannah Kilgore. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs. Kilgore is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

The victory got Gordon-Rushville back to even at 1-1. As for Kimball, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
