Basketball Preview: Miller Buccaneers vs. Ray Texans

The Miller Buccaneers will head out on the road to square off against the Ray Texans at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Miller didn't have too much trouble with the Warriors at home as they won 49-31. Miller pushed the score to 36-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.

Miller can attribute much of their success to Corey Holmes, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Damare Lister, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Lister hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Alex Zamora was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Ray had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 60-47 victory over Victoria West on Friday.

Miller pushed their record up to 15-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Ray, they now have a winning record of 16-15.

Miller came out on top in a nail-biter against the Texans in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 77-74. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miller since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
