Baseball Game Preview: Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers vs. Heights Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Houston Math Science & Tech will face off against Heights. The Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Houston Math Science & Tech is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Heights just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 7-3 to the Bulldogs.

For Heights' part, Adam Torres made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Torres is becoming a predictor of Heights' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 6-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Torres was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Torres wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Garcia, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Mateo Quintanilla was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Heights' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-10. As for Houston Math Science & Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Houston Math Science & Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
