Softball Game Preview: Westview Warriors vs. Wawasee Warriors

Westview will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Wawasee at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wawasee took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Westview, who comes in off a win.

Westview is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against South Bend Adams. Westview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over South Bend Adams on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 16, 2024.

Briana Kaufman and Karlie Schrock did most of the damage at the plate: Kaufman scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Schrock scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Schrock a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Myra Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Wawasee suffered their biggest loss since May 4, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 18-5 to Churubusco.

Westview suffered a grim 17-10 defeat to Wawasee in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Westview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
