Football Game Preview: Howell Highlanders vs. Belleville Tigers + How To Watch

The Howell Highlanders will square off against the Belleville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Howell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Belleville likes a good challenge.

If Belleville heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Howell took over last week. The Highlanders came out on top against Brighton by a score of 37-28 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Bryce Kish had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 178 yards and three scores on only ten carries. Those 178 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Howell's run defense was locked in: Brighton could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The Highlanders' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.66 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 8.07 on average over their last five games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belleville). They claimed a resounding 57-19 victory over Wayne Memorial. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Zebras are ranked 333rd) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Howell better keep an eye on Kendall Franklin. He was instrumental in Belleville's win, throwing for 274 yards and five touchdowns on only 12 passes. Charles Britton Iii did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 124 receiving yards.

Howell's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Belleville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-1.

Howell barely slipped by Belleville when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 30-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
