Basketball Recap: Chernor Jalloh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mifflin over Beechcroft

Mifflin lost against Beechcroft back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mifflin Punchers took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beechcroft Cougars. That's two games in a row now that the Punchers have lost by exactly four points.

Mifflin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Chernor Jalloh, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 boards. Those 18 rebounds gave Jalloh a new career-high. Adrian Quirino Hernadez was another key player, going 5 of 7 to rack up 11 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Mifflin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Mifflin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Beechcroft, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

Looking ahead, Mifflin is taking a road trip to square off against Briggs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mifflin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Beechcroft, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m.
