Recap: Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors vs. Paw Paw Pirates
The Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors lost against the Paw Paw Pirates last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mountain View Christian Academy was outmatched by Paw Paw at home and fell 63-32. While losing is never fun, Mountain View Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 370th in Virginia, while Paw Paw is ranked 15th in West Virginia).
Several Conquerors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Walker, who scored 14 points. Walker continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Devin Michael was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Donavan Tanouye, who scored 21 points along with nine assists and six steals for Paw Paw. The contest was Tanouye's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Williams, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Mountain View Christian Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Paw Paw, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Mountain View Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Paw Paw will be home for the holidays to greet East Hardy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in East Hardy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
