The Chapel Hill Tigers will challenge the Riverside-Durham Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapel Hill has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jordan hit Chapel Hill with a five-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers lost 14-4 to the Falcons. The Tigers have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Iris O'Brien made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and earned two runs and two stolen bases. Abby Klemm was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Riverside-Durham entered their tilt with Cary on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Imps by a score of 8-3.
Grace Arrington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Grayson Knotts was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paris Chavis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Riverside-Durham's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chapel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chapel Hill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverside-Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
