Baseball Recap: Millville Triumphs

Millville and Muncy pushed the score to 19-4 the last time they played Muncy, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Quakers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Indians. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Quakers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Curtis Whitmoyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Whitmoyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shane Johnson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Millville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Muncy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millville will host Canton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Muncy, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Benton at 11:00 a.m. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
