Baseball Recap: Minico Has No Trouble Against Pocatello

Minico barely beat Pocatello the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Minico was the clear victor by a 12-6 margin over Pocatello on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-13 on Friday.

Noah Rich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Minico is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Will Cofer was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jase Murphy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Cofer wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Minico kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for Minico: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.

The victory made it two in a row for Minico and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Pocatello, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minico will host Marsh Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pocatello, they will challenge Bear River at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bear River will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Pocatello surely won't give up without a fight.
