Preview: Dudley Panthers vs. Atkins Camels
Dudley is 5-0 against Atkins since December of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dudley Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Atkins Camels at 8:00 p.m. Dudley will be strutting in after a win while Atkins will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Dudley made easy work of High Point Central and carried off a 72-51 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dudley.
Dudley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Rogers, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of LiShawn Speller, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Atkins, who are still winless after their sixth contest. Their rough 77-53 defeat to Ben L. Smith on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. Atkins has struggled against Ben L. Smith recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Atkins got a solid performance out of Daijon Lindsay, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Roope, who scored eight points.
Dudley's win was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Atkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Dudley strolled past Atkins in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 64-49. Does Dudley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Atkins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
