Baseball Recap: University's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

University dropped their record down to 2-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Weaver Beavers, falling 16-9. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Weaver's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Weaver's part, the team relied heavily on Daniel (Ramon) Perez, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Maikel Martinez Cabrera, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will square off against Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Weaver, they will be playing at home against Wolcott RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
