Softball Recap: West Covina Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

West Covina's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wilson Wildcats as they made off with an 18-6 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2023.

Leslie Baustista made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Baustista was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Adler, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Diaz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

West Covina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Covina's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11-1. As for Wilson, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

West Covina will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
