Baseball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale and North Fort Myers squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Riverdale had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Red Knights by a score of 5-4. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Red Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Peyton Williams was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Riverdale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Beard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Daniel De Los Arcos also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for North Fort Myers, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Riverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Fort Myers, they will challenge Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fightin' Tarpons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Red Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
