Softball Preview: Newport - Bellevue Knights vs. Sammamish RedHawks
The Newport - Bellevue Knights will face off against the Sammamish RedHawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newport - Bellevue is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Newport - Bellevue is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 28-5 margin over Bellevue on Monday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.
Jenna Wittman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Wittman was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Allie Barashkoff was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and four runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Blank, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Newport - Bellevue always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .762. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue only posted an OBP of .280.
Meanwhile, Sammamish was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Cedarcrest, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the RedHawks have lost by exactly ten runs.
The win got Newport - Bellevue back to even at 6-6-1. As for Sammamish, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.
