Basketball Game Preview: Splendora Wildcats vs. Porter Spartans

Splendora is 1-9 against Porter since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Splendora Wildcats will be playing at home against the Porter Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Splendora took on Buna on Saturday. Splendora walked away with a 57-48 win over Buna. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Cougars are ranked 1254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Porter came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Rockdale with a sharp 55-35 victory on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Spartans have posted since December 7th.

Splendora has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Porter, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13.
