Basketball Game Preview: Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders vs. Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks

The Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders will face off against the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Saturday, Monroe-Woodbury lost to Albany at home by a 60-42 margin. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Falcons are ranked 65th).

Meanwhile, Newburgh Free Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Byram Hills, falling 63-35. The game marked the Goldbacks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Monroe-Woodbury has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Newburgh Free Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
