Volleyball Game Preview: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Fernley Vaqueros

The Dayton Dust Devils will face off against the Fernley Vaqueros at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Dayton has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Dayton hadn't beaten Elko on the road since November 5, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Dust Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Indians. The victory continues a trend for the Dust Devils in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Dayton got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 30-28, 19-25, 21-25, 25-9, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Fernley made easy work of Spring Creek on Saturday and carried off a 3-0 win.

While Fernley won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 29-27.

Fernley's victory bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Dayton, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
