Football Game Preview: West Genesee Wildcats vs. Rome Free Academy Black Knights

The West Genesee Wildcats will face off against the Rome Free Academy Black Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for West Genesee and three for Rome Free Academy.

West Genesee is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 35 points back in September, they were much more limited against Cicero-North Syracuse last Friday. They were dealt a 48-12 defeat at the hands of the Northstars. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Northstars are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, Rome Free Academy took a blow against Christian Brothers Academy on Friday, falling 66-6.

Rome Free Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for West Genesee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

West Genesee and Rome Free Academy were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in October of 2023, but West Genesee came up empty-handed after a 21-20 loss. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
