Baseball Game Preview: Floyd County Buffaloes vs. Glenvar Highlanders

Floyd County hasn't had much luck against Glenvar recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Buffaloes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Floyd County 3.9, Glenvar 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Floyd County is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Carroll County.

Zach Turpin put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Adam Petty was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Seven must be Glenvar's lucky number: they beat James River with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Highlanders beat the Knights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. The win continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won five in a row.

Floyd County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Glenvar, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
