Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pine Tree). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Gilmer Buckeyes 83-39. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 480th, while the Buckeyes are ranked 1124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pine Tree's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Gilmer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Pine Tree will be taking part in a tournament against Kemp at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Gilmer, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Carthage at 1:30 p.m. on December 31st.
