Soccer Game Preview: Marist vs. Lithonia

The Marist War Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Lithonia Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Marist fell victim to St. Pius X Catholic and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Lions.

Meanwhile, Lithonia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Southwest DeKalb. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Lithonia couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Axel Marroquin, who's now up to six this season.

Lithonia's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Marist, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.

Everything went Marist's way against Lithonia when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Marist made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the War Eagles since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
