Football Recap: Woodstock Gets the Win + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richmond-Burton, Woodstock was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Plano Reapers with a 20-14 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Blue Streaks also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Woodstock had a senior duo take command as Caden Thompson threw for 191 yards and three TDs and Matthew Cress picked up 92 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Cress also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because the Blue Streaks are undefeated when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Woodstock proved: they limited Plano to a paltry 3.2 yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Cress stood above the rest. He picked up 92 receiving yards and two scores. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Woodstock; they were averaging 5.3yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 3 per game.

Although Plano took the loss, they still got scores from Kolten Schimandle and Isaac Uhrich.

Woodstock's record now sits at 4-2. As for Plano, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Woodstock will square off against Sandwich at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Streaks will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Plano, they will take on Johnsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
