Wakulla Christian School suffers tenth straight loss on the road

Recap: Wakulla Christian School Saints vs. Wewahitchka Gators

This season hasn't been kind to the Wakulla Christian School Saints, who are still winless after their 11th game. They fell 56-48 to Wewahitchka on Friday. Wakulla Christian School was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wewahitchka apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Wakulla Christian School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Korey Paynter, who scored 15 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paynter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Bourgeois, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.

Wewahitchka can attribute much of their success to Drake McGlon, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that McGlon scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Brooks, who scored ten points.

Wakulla Christian School's defeat was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Wewahitchka, their win ended a 12-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wakulla Christian School won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Jefferson County at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Jefferson County has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9. As for Wewahitchka, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ponce De Leon at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponce De Leon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three games.
