Basketball Recap: Kennedy Lane's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Daviess County over Henderson County

After flying high against Bardstown two weeks ago, Daviess County came back down to earth. The Daviess County Panthers took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Henderson County Colonels on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now lost seven in a row.

Daviess County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kennedy Lane, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 21 points. The game was Lane's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Lily Hoagland was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Henderson County was led to victory by A'Tylia Green and Addy Gish. Green went 8 of 15 on her way to 20 points and five steals, while Gish posted ten points in addition to six assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Gibson, who put up seven points and three steals.

Daviess County's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Henderson County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Daviess County will face off against Owensboro at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Owensboro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season. As for Henderson County, they will take on Mt. Carmel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Henderson County also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.4 points per game.
