Baseball Recap: Minico Takes a Loss

Minico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Twin Falls Bruins. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Braxon Trenkle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Minico is 2-1 when Trenkle allows one or fewer hits, but 6-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cody Carlson was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Minico's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Twin Falls, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

While Minico had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
