Preview: Cruz Dragons vs. Victoria Soto Wolves
The Cruz Dragons's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Victoria Soto Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on February 16th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Cruz, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-40 loss to Cristo Rey Jesuit.
Meanwhile, Victoria Soto's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight defeat. The game between them and Mansueto wasn't particularly close, with Victoria Soto falling 53-36. Victoria Soto was down 53-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite their loss, Victoria Soto saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tony Macias, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Eduardo Avila, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Victoria Soto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cruz dropped their record down to 7-16 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Victoria Soto, their loss dropped their record down to 1-18.
