Softball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Victorious

The St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons had just enough and edged out the Newman Greenies 5-4 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by just one run.

Miley Rogers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Lylah Madere was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Rylie Inzinna, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for St. Thomas Aquinas and bumps their season record up to 5-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Newman, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

St. Thomas Aquinas wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against French Settlement on the 19th. As for Newman, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-7 win against McGehee on the 20th.
