Baseball Recap: Northeast Finds Home Field Redemption Against Boca Ciega

There's no place like home for Northeast, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Boca Ciega Pirates by a score of 5-1 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Cameron Hasson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Northeast is 4-2 when Hasson allowstwo or fewer earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Weldon, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Densa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Northeast now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Boca Ciega, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will host Hollins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Northeast is facing Hollins at the right time seeing as Hollins is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Boca Ciega, they will welcome Countryside at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Countryside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Boca Ciega's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
