Basketball Recap: Spartanburg Day Takes a Loss

Spartanburg Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartanburg Christian Academy Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Griffins of the 35-31 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Spartanburg Christian Academy found their leader in freshman Delaney Caldwell, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 11 boards. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Caldwell has scored at least a third of Spartanburg Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jozlyn Barnett, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Spartanburg Day's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Spartanburg Christian Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

Spartanburg Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-22 victory against Greenwood Christian on the 28th. As for Spartanburg Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-18 win against First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest on the 28th.
