Bishop McDevitt dropped to 7-11 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 13-5 to the Hershey Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in April.
Katelyn Roadcap was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Fran Safford, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
As for Hershey, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
On Hershey's side, Emily McConville made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. McConville was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Hershey let Danielle Blaze and Sarah Young run wild. Blaze went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Young went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave Young a new career-high. Lily Weiler-Timmins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop McDevitt will welcome Greencastle-Antrim at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hershey, they will be playing at home against West York Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
