Softball Game Preview: East Lincoln Mustangs vs. Statesville Greyhounds

East Lincoln is a perfect 6-0 against Statesville since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Lincoln has four straight victories, Statesville has 31 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, East Lincoln got the win against West Iredell by a conclusive 13-2.

The team relied heavily on Taniyah Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

North Lincoln hit Statesville with a 16-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Greyhounds came up short against the Knights, falling 19-1.

Statesville's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for East Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

East Lincoln took their victory against Statesville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
