Volleyball Recap: Austintown-Fitch Starts Season with Win Against Glenoak

Austintown-Fitch had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the GlenOak Golden Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Friday. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Golden Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2019.

Austintown-Fitch was especially dominant in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 29-27, 25-19, 22-25, 25-10.

Kylie Folkwein paced Austintown-Fitch's offense, picking up 14 kills. Folkwein got some help from Rylie Simons and her 42 assists. Folkwein was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Coincidentally, Austintown-Fitch and GlenOak will both be playing Hudson the next time they take the court. The Falcons will head out to face the Explorers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Golden Eagles will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
