Basketball Recap: TECH Freire Charter Dragons vs. Swenson Arts & Tech Lion
The TECH Freire Charter Dragons were the 68-54 winner over the Swenson Arts & Tech Lion when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. TECH Freire Charter fell just short of the Lion by a score of 70-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (64), TECH Freire Charter still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, TECH Freire Charter had strong showings from Zymear Hashim, who scored 26 points, and Markel Moran, who scored 20 points. Hashim continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Omar Leach was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
TECH Freire Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season. As for Swenson Arts & Tech, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. TECH Freire Charter will take on the Dragons at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Freire Charter School Wilmington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Dragons in their respective states (the Dragons are ranked 60th in Delaware, while the Dragons are ranked 397th in Pennsylvania). As for Swenson Arts & Tech, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the HOYAS at 3:15 p.m.
