Putnam City has no trouble against Tahlequah

Recap: Putnam City Pirates vs. Tahlequah Tigers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Putnam City Pirates had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 41-21 margin over Tahlequah. The result was nothing new for Putnam City, who have now won five matches by 20 points or more so far this season.

Judson Keefer was his usual excellent self, rushing for 160 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 156 yards and a touchdown. Keefer really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Asberry, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Tahlequah still got an impressive performance from Beckett Robinson, who picked up 151 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Putnam City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38 points. As for Tahlequah, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Putnam City will head out on the road to face off against Stillwater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stillwater will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Tahlequah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
