Volleyball Recap: Elbert Comes Up Short

Elbert suffered their biggest defeat since September 16th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Ascent Classical Academy Guardians. The shutout was out of character for the Bulldogs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-13.

Elbert's offense was headlined by Paisley Vandergriff and Bella Mulvihill, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Jadyn Schmidt and her nine assists. Mulvihill was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Ascent Classical Academy to victory were Grace Gilmartin and Briar Hegarty. Gilmartin had 21 digs, while Hegarty had eight digs. That's the most digs Gilmartin has posted since back in September.

Elbert's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Ascent Classical Academy, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Elbert will square off against Liberty Tree Academy at 5:45 p.m. on the 29th. As for Ascent Classical Academy, they will face off against Twin Peaks Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
