Softball Game Preview: Sandusky Blue Streaks vs. Port Clinton Redskins

The Sandusky Blue Streaks will head out on the road to challenge the Port Clinton Redskins at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Neither Sandusky nor Port Clinton posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Saturday, Sandusky came up short against Huron and fell 5-2. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Sandusky saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amari Prentice, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Port Clinton lost 9-1 to St. Paul on Saturday.

Ashton Sanchez put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season.

Sandusky's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Port Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Sandusky suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Port Clinton when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Sandusky avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
