Softball Recap: Chesnee Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Chesnee lost a heartbreaker the last time they played High Point Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Chesnee is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for High Point Academy, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Chesnee will be playing at home against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eagles have won three straight at home, while the Yellowjackets won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for High Point Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Blacksburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
