Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Sage Creek's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Sage Creek hadn't done well against Mission Hills recently (they were 0-7-1 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bobcats blew past the Grizzlies 6-0. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 7-5 victory the Grizzlies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Elijah Stephens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Sage Creek: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Josh Wilson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Sage Creek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Mission Hills, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sage Creek beat the Grizzlies by a score of 2-0 on Thursday.
