Softball Recap: Walhalla Razorbacks vs. West-Oak Warriors
Walhalla had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-7 to make it five. They lost 13-0 to the West-Oak Warriors. The shutout was out of character for the Razorbacks seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.
As for West-Oak, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.
For West-Oak's part, Cassie Stoltzfus was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Stoltzfus has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since March 7th.
In other batting news, West-Oak let Brylee Whitfield and Tori Roy run wild. Whitfield went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Roy went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Roy has posted since March 7th. Anna Blackwell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Coincidentally, Walhalla and West-Oak will both be playing Belton-Honea Path the next time they take the field. The Razorbacks will host the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Warriors will host them at 6:00 p.m. on the 10th.
