Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Slocomb). Everything went their way against the Northside Methodist Academy Knights on Thursday as they made off with a 16-3 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Red Tops as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Molly Mcgowan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Mcgowan was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Chloe Andrews was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Ray, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.

Slocomb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Slocomb's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Northside Methodist Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slocomb will head out to face off against Charles Henderson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northside Methodist Academy, they will square off against Geneva County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
