Baseball Recap: Ellis Beats Scott for Their Third Straight Victory

Ellis took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Scott, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Railroaders won by a run and slipped past the Beavers 9-8. Winning may never get old, but the Railroaders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Gavyn Wildeman, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Ellis is undefeated when Wildeman posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Aiden Aschenbrenner also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Ellis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .513. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive games.

Ellis' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Scott, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Ellis will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Beavers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
