Football Recap: Lutheran North Falls Short of St. Mary's South Side in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lutheran North can now relate to. They lost 35-12 to the St. Mary's South Side Dragons on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Crusaders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kingston Miles had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 247 yards and four scores while picking up 7.1 yards per carry for St. Mary's South Side. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Miles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Smith, who threw for 198 yards and one touchdown on only 17 passes.

Lutheran North's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for St. Mary's South Side, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Lutheran North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary's South Side, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Parkway North at 6:30 p.m. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Dragons' offense will have their work cut out for them.
